We needed a simple solution.
Just a couple of weeks ago, my mom and I decided to declutter our home. We realized the reason for most of our stress was a result of all the stuff we had. We had more stuff than we needed and that led to a cluttered home, which led to a stressful home. Not a nice combination, right?
One of the first things we began organizing was our clothes. We donated tons of shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, but there were some that were not of donation quality. So instead of throwing them out, my mother came up with an ingenuous idea of turning them into small mats! We needed some around the house anyways, so this was a perfect idea.
With years of crocheting and knitting under her built, she quickly brought her idea to life. These are the result, mats made with love:
Although they are bit rough, they’re the most comfortable mats I’ve ever stepped foot on (pun intended!). All in all, after spending weeks decluttering our home we were able to feel at ease once again. I was able to focus on what I needed to focus on, and my mother was able to rekindle her love of crocheting/knitting.
So when you are in times of stress, look at the space/environment around you. Is your home/office/workspace make you feel at ease? If not, then maybe it’s time to declutter?
If you don’t know where to start, then I highly recommend reading this book: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
